THE PEACE

OF CHRISTMAS

Today is Pearl Harbor Day!

Zachariah’s prophecy concerning the coming birth of the Messiah, Jesus Christ:

Luke 1:68-79 (NLT)
68 “Praise the Lord, the God of Israel, because he has visited his people and redeemed them.
69 He has sent us a mighty Savior from the royal line of his servant David,
70 just as he promised through his holy prophets long ago.
71 Now we will be saved from our enemies and from all who hate us.
72 He has been merciful to our ancestors by remembering his sacred covenant with them,
73 the covenant he gave to our ancestor Abraham.
74 We have been rescued from our enemies, so we can serve God without fear,
75 in holiness and righteousness forever.
76 “And you, my little son, will be called the prophet of the Most High, because you will prepare the way for the Lord.
77 You will tell his people how to find salvation through forgiveness of their sins.
78 Because of God’s tender mercy, the light from heaven is about to break upon us,
79 to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, and to guide us to the path of peace.”

The angel’s promise to the Shepherds and the world:

Luke 2:14 (KJV)
14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

Jesus Gift to the World

John 14:27 (NLT)
27 “I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give isn’t like the peace the world gives. So don’t be troubled or afraid.

Paul’s Declaration to the World

Colossians 3:15 (NLT)
15 And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are all called to live in peace. And always be thankful.

2 Thessalonians 3:16 (NLT)
16 May the Lord of peace himself always give you his peace no matter what happens. The Lord be with you all.

Our Response to the Message of the Peace of Christmas

Romans 5:1-2 (NLT)
1 Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us.
2 Because of our faith, Christ has brought us into this place of highest privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to sharing God’s glory.
