HAVE A GREAT “THANKSGIVING” 11-23-2008

Remember, “Every ending is followed by a new beginning”!

1 Thessalonians 5:18 (NLT)
18 No matter what happens, always be thankful, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus
.

The National holiday of “Thanksgiving” is about giving thanks or we might say “thanks giving”.

However it’s up to us to decide if we will develop an Attitude of Gratitude or an Attitude or “greeditude”.

Remember, if you don’t like your attitude, you chose it, you and you alone can change it.

Here’s a simple way to change your attitude or thinking from negative to positive. Get a sheet of paper and draw a line down the middle. At the top write “My Choice”. On the left side list you “Problems” and on the right side write “Blessings”. You may need some help or encouragement to think of the blessings.

Here are some blessings in my life:

·        Food

·        Warm cloths

·        A warm place to live

·        Some good friends

·        A good job that actually pays me.

·        America, freedoms abound

·        Good health

·        A good mind

·        My Faith in God

·        Family, a wonder wife and two great sons, that love me most of the time.

·        Opportunity for change

·        A good Church Family

·        The opportunity to give something back.

Here is God’s formula in God’s Word for a “positive attitude written by the Apostle Paul!

Let me preface this by saying these verses are written to Christians. If you aren’t a Christian, that is if you haven’t invited Jesus Christ to be the Lord and Master of your life, then these verses won’t make much sense to you.

Romans 12:2 (NLT)
2 Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will know what God wants you to do, and you will know how good and pleasing and perfect his will really is.

Then He tells us some ways to “think”.

Philippians 4:8-9 (NLT)
8 And now, dear brothers and sisters, let me say one more thing as I close this letter. Fix your thoughts on what is true and honorable and right. Think about things that are pure and lovely and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.
9 Keep putting into practice all you learned from me and heard from me and saw me doing, and the God of peace will be with you.

Here’s a God Idea for a great Thanksgiving!

1 Thessalonians 5:18 (NLT)
18 No matter what happens, always be thankful, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.

Have a Great Thanksgiving
