Let the Healing Continue

December 10, 2008

I spoke with Jerry Stroup and he shared about the tube the Drs inserted in Margaret today to allow the abscess to drain. Jerry mentioned that the tube drained into a pouch. He said it was draining but would possibly take several days. She is resting well and the healing is continuing.

I thought they would just insert a needle in and drain the fluid out and all would be better but that’s not the case. You know much of life is that way. We would think we should all be over it by now and getting on with our lives, but that’s not the case. It takes time for the pain to drain from our hearts when we have been through such an event as we have all been through these last few weeks.

This event has touched sooooo many lives in so many different ways! I won’t bore you with all the different scenarios that I could imagine, let alone so many others that I can’t imagine. However, this event has touched all our lives in unique ways. The degree each one of us were involved will determine the time it will take for our “abscess” to drain.

When we are all finally “healed up” there will always be the scar. Inside or outside the scar will always be visible. Maybe not with the naked eye but it’s still very visible to us personally.  I think scars are God’s reminder of what was, not what now is. Yes, we will always have the scar. It will remind us to share our pain with someone else when they are hurting. Someone has said God never wastes a hurt. I say “it becomes a tool in our “tool box of life” to help us help ourselves and others tomorrow”

One of the greatest compliments we can pay another person is to listen to them. Listen to them share their story. Remember the next time you have an opportunity to listen to someone tell their story, listen to them. I mean really listen! Here’s a thought, if you listen to them the next time they may listen to you. There’s no guarantee but it could start something!

Remember, Pay it Forward. It will come back,
