Margaret Stroup Update 12-3-2008

December 3, 2008

As I shared on thestatus.com site, Margaret had a great day. We are all very guardedly optimistic. She is making lots of small steps toward a full recovery. Thanks for your continued prayers and comments on the web page and emails.

As we all know we certainly live in uncertain times. Whether it’s the economy or our own personal and family safety every one seems to be quite concerned. There are no guarantees in this life. Many people work all their lives hoping for the American Dream of retirement to travel and do all the things they have dreamed of only to have their plans set aside by the “unexpected”. As a Pastor I have dealt with this kind of stress and concern and disappointment off and on all my ministry. We can and should plan for our future. I think it’s wonderful to dream with our spouse and plan for the “golden years”. However we must keep in mind that none of us know what the future holds for us. the Bible (in the book of James, NT) says that we shouldn’t say tomorrow I will do this or do that, but “if the Lord wills”. Let us put our trust and confidence in the Lord. I don’t know what the future holds but I do know who holds the future!

One of the keys to Margaret’s recovery and Jerry’s strength and peace is their faith in Jesus Christ. They don’t have any bitterness in their hearts toward Joseph, the gentleman who did the shooting. They are very sad for all that has happened but are totally trusting God to bring them through it all.

By the way there is one guarantee that I have put my total life and future in, John 3:16. People ask me how I do all that I do and still keep a smile on my face. It’s quite simple, I believe in Jesus Christ as the Messiah that was promised by the prophets long ago. I guess you could call me a “completed or fulfilled Jew”. I believe that the little baby born in a manger in the stable so long ago was in fact the promised Messiah. I have put my trust and all that I am in His hands. When I draw my last breath I “know” I will go to Heaven! It may not work for you but for me and millions of others around the world Christmas is the most Wonderful Time of the Year!

Keep on Trustin,

Pastor Alan
