Update from Providence Hospital

December 1, 2008

This has been truly an experience that none of us would have ever imagined would come to our town of Soldotna, Alaska. It has made all of us take some time aside and think about life. A friend of mine, Hal Fimple once told me many years ago “when you put your boots on in the morning, you never know who will take them off that night”. Wow what a thought! We know that none of us are promised tomorrow. It is so amazing that so many of us Americans live our lives as though we were going to live on this earth forever! The sobering reality is that none of us truly are promised tomorrow! Miriam and I have a pact that we won’t leave each other, no matter how many times a day we part, without a goodbye kiss and an “I Love You”. We don’t know when it will be the last time but we are assured there will be a “last time”.

My heart is saddened tonight for the Webb family at the tragic loss of their husband and father Mike. no amount of words can describe their loss. Please pray that the God of all Comfort will comfort them by and through His Holy Spirit. God will also use other fellow travelers on this journey of life to comfort them as they have also been comforted in their pain. Someone has said “God never waste a hurt”. He will always use it in our lives to come along side someone else and share their pain. By the way, whose pain have you shared lately.

We will never figure it all out or understand all the thing that happen in this world. The Bible does say that it “rains on the just and the unjust”. However that isn’t much comfort when the rain is falling on me! I wish I had more answers but I don’t. I can’t give you any formulas for processing of all the pain in our lives nor can I promise there won’t be any more rain. But as for me I have made a choice to “Trust in the Lord with all my heart, lean not on my own understanding and in all my ways acknowledge Him and He will direct my path!”

Thanks for your prayers for us all here at Providence Medical Center during this extremely difficult time,

Pastor Alan

Praise the Lord! Margaret is Awake!!!!!!!

December 1, 2008

Great News Today!

This morning as I was updating the status page for Margaret the phone rang and Jerry was told she was awake. He ran to the ACC unit and one of the first things she said to him was “I love you”. He is so excited! He is so tired and wore out but he is still going, on adrenaline I think. He is so proud that she is awake and from all appearance is doing very well. Her condition has been updated from Critical to Serious. That is a huge step in the right direction. There are so many other wonderful thing I will share as we go along but for now know that Margaret is on the right track for her recovery journey!

I want to thank the Soldotna Church of God family, the CPH family, my Blog partners and all Jerry and Margaret’s friends and family for all your prayers and support. Your calls, comments, emails, cards, etc. are such a blessing to their entire family. Keep them up and know that they are so grateful for every one of them. Margaret’s son Brian is here from Michigan and he too has expressed his sincere appreciation for all the love being shown for his mom.

Our love and appreciation to you all,

Pastor Alan
